Fort San Pedro

Photo shared by Al E Gator from Cebu. Thanks!

This is the smallest fort in the world. The spaniards circumnavigated the world and reached the philippines in the 1600's not knowing they will encounter the same Moors or Moros they have been fighting with in europe during the holy war crusade from the mideaval times. This fort waa built in the 1800's by Legazpi to defend themselves against the Moros. At one time, it was a prison during the Japanese period, and also it was run as a private zoo by Lamplighters. Now it is a nice garden with a historical museum that contains artifacts of sunken Galleon ships. Concerts, graduations and weddings are being held in this place. It is nice to take leisurely stroll to escape the blazing heat of Cebu's climate. At dusk, people have romantic rendevouz, and you might want to close your eyes from uncensored corners. :) In front of the fort is the Plaza de Armas. This plaza if for the poor, thus it's name. This is the place where locals meet and date since they have live free entertainment, food and music here all the time.
